MECHANICAL SERVICING

We service and maintain all our plant at our large and comprehensively equipped workshop at Hautapu in Cambridge.

Fabrication

Our mechncical engineers use the Creaform Go!SCAN 3D for accurate, portable 3D scanning (up to 0.1mm), paired with VX Elements software for fast and reliable reverse engineering. Our main design platform is Solidworks, which we use for sheet metal and machined components, including generating CAM programs for milling more complex parts. For 3D-printed items like rubber gaskets and mounts, we prep and slice models using Cura. We also carry out ultrasonic thickness testing on buckets, trays, and other wear-prone components to assess condition and plan re-strengthening as needed. Our welding capabilities include MIG, TIG, gas welding, and carbon tip arc gouging, with full control over pre- and post-heat treatments to ensure strong, long-lasting welds. We work with a broad range of materials from 6061 Aluminium through to HardOx Tuff500 wear plate. To further boost efficiency and keep everything under one roof, we've recently added a dedicated in-house sandblasting and paint building, allowing us to streamline finishing and deliver faster turnarounds without relying on external services.

Rebuilds

We specialise in full rebuilds of major components, carried out by our NZQA qualified heavy diesel mechanics and skilled apprentices. Our dedicated parts department ensures we have the right resources to maintain our large fleet. Recent fleet acquisitions include our PC600LC-8, which underwent a complete strip-down, sandblasting, and repainting, with engine overhauls and hydraulic repairs. Our Liebherr R984C received a new engine, along with panel repairs, hydraulic resealing, and other necessary fixes. Our Cat D8T had its engine replaced with a remanufactured Caterpillar engine, along with final drive and transmission rebuilds, panel repairs, and cab refurbishment. One of our Cat 777C required chassis repairs, a refurbished cab, overhauled rear wheel ends, and hydraulic hose replacements. PC450LC-8 underwent chassis crack repairs, hydraulic resealing, and a bucket cylinder replacement, along with preparation for a rock breaker installation.
